 19 Year-old Motorcyclist From Palm Harbor Killed in Crash on Ulmerton Road

A fiery crash claimed the life of 19 year-old Rodney Hydorn of Palm Harbor, Florida.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Ulmerton Road and Coral Way on Monday, August 7, 2017 at approximately 11:36 p.m.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Investigators, 28 year-old Jessie Leonard of Largo was driving a 1998 Jeep SUV eastbound on Ulmerton Road in the left turn lane approaching Coral Way.

Hydorn, operating a 2005 Suzuki Katana, was traveling westbound on Ulmerton Road in the inside lane approaching Coral Way.

The FHP report indicates that Leonard turned left into the path of the helmeted motorcyclist.

Hydorn was thrown from the motorcycle which then became engulfed in flames.

He sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash.

Leonard was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with minor injuries.  Her 29 year-old male passenger was not injured in the crash.

Toxicology testing was conducted, the investigation continues, and charges are listed as pending.
