The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continues to investigate a serious injury crash that occurred at approximately 8:57 p.m. at the intersection of Alderman Road and Omaha Street on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.

According to troopers, 74 year-old John Brnich of Palm Harbor was traveling northbound on Omaha Street approaching Alderman Road in a 2016 Kia SUV.

Nicolas Louis, age 30 of Tarpon Springs was traveling eastbound on Alderman Road in a 1992 Jeep.

Troopers say that Brnich failed to stop for a red traffic signal at the intersection and traveled into the path of the Jeep.

Brnich was transported to the Regional Medical Center of Bayonet Point with serious injuries.  His 51 year-old male passenger only experienced minor injuries.

Louis was ejected from the vehicle as it overturned. He was flown to St. Joseph’s Hospital with serious injuries.  Troopers say he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Brnich was cited for failure to yield making a turn under a red signal.
