DUI Crash Friday Night on North Dale Mabry in Tampa Leaves Two with Serious Injuries

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Troopers investigated an serious injuries crash on Friday, January 20, 2017.  The crash occurred on North Dale Mabry at Carrollwood Place Circle in Tampa at approximately 10:25 PM.

According to FHP, 45 year-old Terrence Robert Light of Tampa was traveling northbound on N Dale Mabry in a 2005 GMC Sierra.  Light attempted to make a left turn across the southbound lanes at Carrollwood Place Circle.

A 1997 Chevy Blazer driven by 35 year-old Robert Schmiedebush of Tampa was traveling southbound in the inside lane of N North Dale Mabry.

As Light made his left turn, he entered into the path of Schmiedebush’s Blazer.

The front of the Blazer impacted the right front of the Sierra.

Light’s passenger, 47 year-old Shelby Higgins Light of Tampa was critically injured and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Schmiedebush was also transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with serious injuries.

FHP Troopers arrested Terrence Light and charged him with 2 counts of DUI involving serious bodily injury and DUI involving property damage.

According to an FHP report, Light provided a breath sample of 0.151 which is nearly twice the legal limit in Florida.

Light was released on $4,500 bail at 3:08 PM on Saturday, January 21, 2017.

Light was previously arrested in Hillsborough County in March of 2013 for DUI.
