At approximately 6:09 PM on Sunday, November 20, 2014, crews were dispatched to reports of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian.  Multiple 911 calls were received and units from Madeira Beach Fire Department, Seminole Fire Rescue, Sunstar Paramedics, and Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office responded to 14701 Gulf Blvd in front of Dockside Dave’s Grill.

According to investigators, 75-year-old Joan Patrick of Ontario, Canada had just had dinner with her family at Dockside Dave’s on Madeira Beach. After dinner she and her family crossed Gulf Boulevard to the west.  Deputies say Patrick stayed slightly behind her family and was struck in the median southbound lane by the 2010 Nissan Altima driven by 28-year-old Nicole Biggs of Seminole.

Witnesses reported that first responders from Madeira Beach Fire Department and Sunstar Paramedics were performing CPR on Patrick in efforts to revive her.  She was transported by ambulance to St. Pete General Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at 6:36 p.m. on November 30th.

Southbound lanes of Gulf Boulevard were closed during the investigation by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.)  Deputies say neither impairment nor speed appear to be factors in the crash.

The investigation continues.
