FHP Investigating Crash that Killed a Pinellas Park Man

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) are investigating a single vehicle fatality crash.

The crash occurred shortly after 4 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018 in the southbound lanes of 71st Street N at 40th Avenue in Unincorporated St. Petersburg.

Sean William Pinnell, age 40, was the driver of a 2006 Chevy Silvarado was traveling southbound on 71st Street, north of 40th Avenue North.

Troopers say, for unknown reasons, Pinnell lost control of the truck which departed the roadway to the west grass shoulder. Once on the shoulder, the Chevy collided with a power pole and fence while overturning.

Pinnell was ejected from the truck.

He was transported to St. Petersburg General by ambulance and later died from his injuries.

Investigators do not suspect chemical impairment and report that the driver did not utilize his seatbelt.
