FHP: Two Dead in Fiery Wrong-way Crash on I-75 in Sarasota

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol are currently investigating a crash that killed two drivers in the northbound lanes of I-75 near mile marker 212.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018.

A 2006 Chevy HHR was reportedly traveling southbound in the northbound right center lane of I-75 at mile marker 212.

A 2013 Ford was traveling northbound on I-75 in the right center lane at mile marker 212.

As a result, the front of the HHR struck the front of the Ford in the northbound I-75 right center lane.

After impact, both vehicles caught fire, killing both male drivers.

Troopers are anticipating the roadway to reopen for travel by about 8 a.m.

The investigation continues.
