Tarpon Springs Police Department (TSPD) is currently investigating an incident that killed a 29 year-old man working on a church

On Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at approximately 10AM, Tarpon Springs police units were dispatched to the First Baptist Church, located at 1021 Gulf Rd.

Officers were called to assist Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue personnel with a critically injured person as the result of an industrial accident.

Sgt. Robert Faugno of TSPD reports that detectives investigated the incident and concluded that employees of Lester F. Paulk and Sons roofing were working on the exterior roof of the church when one of the employees fell off of the roof to the ground below, approximately 20 feet.

As a result of the fall, 29 year-old Garrett Marshall of Crystal Beach was critically injured.

Fire Medics requested an air transport which was later cancelled due to long response time along with a rapid worsening of his condition.

He was transported to Florida Hospital/North Pinellas via Sunstar Paramedics where he was pronounced deceased.
