The Treasure Island Police Department began investigating the suspicious activity at approximately 8:00 a.m. this morning (11/26/2013).

At approximately 8:00 a.m. this morning the Treasure Island Police Department was conducting a Welfare Check in the Village of Paradise Island Condominiums.  During the course of their investigation a subject fled from them.  The subject has been identified as 31 year-old Phillip Blake Pike.  Pike ran into the residence at 511 Sandy Hook Road.  As officers gave chase inside the residence, they began to notice substances and containers used to manufacture Methamphetamine.  Seeing these hazardous items, officers backed out of the location and called for additional resources to respond.

It was at this time various components of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, to include: Narcotics Division, Negotiator Response Team, and the SWAT Team.

Detectives and members of the Negotiator Response Team attempted to make contact with Pike for several hours before he voluntarily surrendered to authorities on scene.

Detectives and Fire Rescue Hazmat Teams are now carefully investigating the interior of the residence to determine the extent of the Meth Lab.

At this point, Pike is being charged with:
1. Attempt Manufacturing  Methamphetamine (Felony)
2. Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine (Felony)

The investigation continues.
