A radio transmission came over the radio from Mark Sena reporting he was involved in a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle late Saturday evening.  He called for assistance from Fire Rescue and Sheriff’s Office after reporting he was rear ended by a motorcycle.   Sena is employed at G4S as an arrestee transport officer.  G4S is the company that took over the in-county prisoner transport system for the Sheriff’s Office in 2013.  The crash occurred at the intersection of Ulmerton Road and 101st Street in Largo.

Crews from Largo Fire Rescue and Sunstar arrived to assist the driver of the 2011 Harley Davidson.  He has been identified as 55 year-old Daniel Boggs of Largo, Florida.  He was transported to a local hospital by Sunstar with life-threatening injuries.  Boggs was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.  An air transport upgrade was originally requested but an extended response time from Bayflite required a ground transport to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg

According to deputies, the driver of a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office transport van was traveling Eastbound on Ulmerton Road and was stopped at the red traffic light at 101st Street North. As the driver of the van began to accelerate, the driver of a 2011 Harley Davidson, also traveling Eastbound, struck the rear of the van.

Sena was transporting one passenger at the time of the crash.  The passenger has been identified as 45 year-old Piopra  Jablonski of Palm Harbor who was arrested for DUI.  Neither Sena nor Jablonski was injured in the incident.

Deputies say alcohol may be a contributing factor in the crash.

All Eastbound lanes of Ulmerton Road, just East of Seminole Blvd. were closed for several hours during this investigation. All lanes have since re-opened.

The investigation continues.

There were at least two other crashes involving a motorcycle late on Saturday. One occurred at Gulf to Bay and Belcher and the other on 66th Street just to the north of 142nd Avenue.
