Arrest Made After Pinellas Park Resident Shot by Teen Burglarizing His Vehicle

On Sunday, February 18, 2018, at approximately 1:15 a.m., 28 year-old Alexander Weaver observed at least three male subjects, believed to be juveniles, breaking into his vehicle parked at hisĀ residence in theĀ 6200 block of 106th Avenue North in Pinellas Park.

Mr. Weaver confronted these individuals on his own and ended up chasing one of the male subjects to the 10600 block of Oakhaven Drive.Ā  The subject pulled out a firearm and shot Weaver as he was being pursued.

Weaver was treated at a local hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

On Tuesday, February 20,2018, detectives fromĀ the Pinellas Park Police Department announced the arrest of 17 year-old Brandon Roman of Pinellas Park for his role in a vehicle burglary that resulted in the shooting of AlexanderĀ Weaver early on Sunday, February 18th.

Brandon Roman on Sunday, FebruaryĀ 18th at approximatelyĀ 1:15 a.m.Ā was in the area of 62 Street and 106thĀ Avenue North, looking for unlocked vehicles to burglarize.Ā  Brandon RomanĀ located and stole a handgun from an unlocked vehicle in the area.Ā  Roman then made his way to 6229 106th Avenue where he was observed by the victim, Alexander Weaver burglarizing his vehicle.Ā  Weaver seeing Roman confrontedĀ him and began chasing him down the street.Ā  While being chased by Mr. Weaver,Ā Brandon Roman pulled out the stolen firearm and began shooting at Mr. WeaverĀ striking him one time in the arm causing a non-life threatening gunshotĀ wound.

Brandon Roman has been charged with one count of attempted felony murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, two counts of armed burglary,Ā delinquent in possession of a firearm, and Violation of Probation (GrandĀ Theft Motor Vehicle).

Detectives continue to investigate the case as they look to identify and possibly charge other subjects that assisted RomanĀ with the burglaries.Ā  The stolen firearm in this case has not yet beenĀ recovered and detectives will be working to locate it as the investigation continues.
