Relationship Over a Girlfriend Leaves Two Brothers Facing Charges in the Attempted Murder of a Clearwater Man

Divante Henderson and Christopher Henderson have both been arrested for the attempted murder of Taoufik Borji on September, 24, 2017.

Pinellas County Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit have arrested two men for attempted murder following a shooting that seriously injured a Clearwater man.

At about 7:23 a.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2017, deputies responded to a 911 call for an armed person at 14660 64th Street North, in unincorporated Clearwater.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim 38-year-old Taoufik Borji, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Borji was transported to Bayfront Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

Detectives say their investigation revealed that Borji had an argument earlier
the same morning with his cousin, 25-year-old Divante Henderson of Holiday. The argument was related to a relationship Borji had with Divante’s girlfriend.

Detectives say Divante and his brother, 30-year-old Christopher Henderson of Clearwater, drove to Borji’s house and confronted Borji outside his home. Divante took out a handgun and shot Borji multiple times in the presence of witnesses.

Divante and Christopher got into a vehicle and fled the scene before deputies arrived.

On Monday, October 9, 2017, Divante and Christopher turned themselves in to detectives at the Sheriff’s Administration Building located at 10750 Ulmerton Road in Largo. They were arrested and transported to the Pinellas County Jail without incident.

Divante was charged with one count of second-degree attempted murder. Christopher was charged with one count of principal- attempted murder.

Borji remains in serious condition at Bayfront Heath St. Petersburg.

The investigation continues.
