St. Petersburg Police Nab Bank Robber Currently on Federal Probation

St. Petersburg Police responded to reports of a bank robbery at about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.

The robbery occurred at Grow Financial which is located at 2600 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street N in St. Petersburg.

According to police, the suspect approached the teller and implied he had a weapon leaving the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Around 9:35 a.m., alert Officers in the area spotted a man matching the suspect’s description walking along 14th Street N and stopped him. The subject was identified as the bank robber and taken into custody without incident. Officers recovered a large amount of cash while searching him.

The bank robber has been identified as 49 year-old Johnny Leo Haugabook Jr.

Haugabook is currently on federal probation and has been turned over to federal authorities. He was released from Federal Prison in September 2016.
