Two Men Electrocuted When Ladder Hits Power Line in Largo

At approximately 3:30 PM this afternoon, units from Largo Fire Rescue were dispatched to 1031 Tallowood Drive in unincorporated Largo.

Due to the circumstance of the incident, Deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office were also requested to respond.

According to deputies, two men with Happy Palms Tree Service were trimming trees at the above address. The two men were on the ground moving a ladder when the ladder hit a power line causing the two men to be shocked.

50-year-old Lance Russel of St. Petersburg was transported to a Largo Medical Center via Sunstar with non-life threatening injuries.

32-year-old Steven Hansen of Clearwater was also transported to Largo Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.  Initial reports indicated that Hansen was revived at the scene after CPR was preformed by the arriving crews.

Duke Energy was dispatched to the scene to inspect the power line for damage
The incident does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
