Two Seriously Injured in Scooter Crash in 6300 Block of Park Blvd Sunday Evening

Crews from Pinellas Park Fire Rescue, Pinellas Park Police and Sunstar Paramedics were dispatched to reports of a crash involving a scooter.  The crash occurred at about 4:46 PM on Park Blvd at 63rd Street in Pinellas Park.

According to Pinellas Park Police investigators, the driver of the scooter, 36 year-old Juan Eduardo Metzler of St. Petersburg pulled out of an alley between 6300 and 6314 Park Blvd. Metzler entered into the path of a 2004 Nissan Z that was traveling eastbound in the center lane on Park Blvd at the time of the crash. The driver of the Nissan had the right of way when the scooter entered its path of travel.

Both Metzler and his passenger, 36 year-old Jamie Robert Ansotigue of St. Petersburg, were thrown from the scooter and transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.

The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Metzler is in serious but stable condition and Ansotigue is in critical condition at this time. Neither Metzler nor Ansotigue were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

No criminal charges are pending at this time but citations are pending for Metzler
