Pinellas Park Police Investigating Drowning of Man in Residential Swimming Pool
Pinellas Park Police and fire rescue units responded at about 4 p.m. to the scene of an
adult male found at the bottom of a swimming pool in the backyard of a
residence located at 8061 46 Street North in Pinellas Park.
Once the male subject had been pulled from the pool it was determined that he had been deceased for several hours. Investigators determined that the deceased had been over visiting friends who were having a party where alcohol was being consumed in large quantities.
Investigators determined that the deceased male subject was last seen alive around 4:00 a.m. when he got up to use the restroom inside the house. Later in the morning when the subject was not seen again the other subjects at the residence began looking for the now missing subject. Throughout the early morning hours and during the rest of today the friends of the subject continued to search for the missing adult male at area hospitals, and the like hoping to find their missing friend.
It was also learned that the pool was initially checked earlier in the day but because the pool was green from algae the male subject was not located. At approximately 4:00 p.m. a friend of the deceased was probing the deep end of the pool using a pool cleaning pole with a brush on the end and discovered the deceased male at the bottom. The Pinellas County Medical Examiner’s Office will help investigators determine the exact cause of death. At this time there does not appear to be anything suspicious regarding the death and it is being investigated as an accidental drowning.
The man is only being identified as 48 year old Colombian citizen as next of kin notification is ongoing.
The investigation will remain open until the cause of death is officially determined.
