Three People Rescued After Small Boat Capsized in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue is currently on scene at the Dick Meisner Bridge for a water rescue.  The bridge is located just north of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

The initial call for service came from a passer-by at approximately 8:40AM.

When fire crews arrived on scene, they found a small boat that had capsized due to weather conditions and 3 people in the water.

Two adult males, ages 46 and 32; and 9 year old boy, were rescued from the bay by St. Petersburg Marine Team on Fire Boat 11.

The patients are being taken to O’Neils Marina where they will be evaluated. Pinellas County Sheriffs Office is assisting with the incident.

The boat is reported to now be about one-quarter mile off-shore near the navigation channel.  The Coast Guard is aware and will take appropriate action to protect other boaters from the navagation hazard.
