16-year-old arrested for firing gunshots outside AMC theaters in Bradenton

Manatee County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested 16-year-old Caden Simmons for firing gunshots outside AMC Bradenton 20 Movie theater last month.   

At approximately 7:23 p.m. on August 27, 2023, deputies responded to reports of a fight at the theater and heard rumors of gunshots having been fired inside the theater. Deputies quickly determined that gunfire occurred in the parking lot and informed moviegoers that reports of an active shooter were unfounded.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident.    

With a variety of investigative leads, detectives developed Simmons as a suspect. On 9/5/23, Simmons turned himself into deputies and was charged with Unlicensed Carry of a Firearm and Discharging a Firearm in a Public Place.
