Motorcyclist Dies in I-275 Crash Friday Night in St. Petersburg.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continues to investigate a fatality crash. The crash occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2019 in the southbound lanes of I-275 near 5th Avenue N.

According to investigators, a 27 year-old motorcyclist from St. Petersburg was traveling southbound in the inside lane of I-275 near milepost 23 on a 2017 Yamaha YZFR6.

Troopers say that the motorcyclist attempted to pass both a Toyota Corolla and a Ford F250 pickup truck. In the process, he lost control of the motorcycle and collided with the Toyota Corolla. Following the collision, he was thrown from the motorcycle and struck by the F250.

The motorcyclist was transported by ambulance to Bayfront Health St. Peterburg where he died from his injuries.

No charges are expected according to the FHP.
