SARASOTA – A 38-year-old woman and a 7-year-old boy both from Ellenton, were killed in a seven-vehicle crash in the Sarasota section of Manatee County at about 9:45 PM Friday, September 29, 2023.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports that all seven vehicles were headed North on US 301, approaching Tallevast Road. Police say the first vehicle struck the second, which was carrying the woman and boy who were killed. The impact sent that sedan into a 3rd vehicle, causing vehicle 2 to overturn. Vehicle 2 then continued and collided with the four other vehicles before coming to rest.
The driver of the first vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. None of the other drivers were seriously injured.
The investigation continues.
