73-Year-Old Man Critically Injured in Tarpon Springs Mobile Home Fire

TARPON SPRINGS — Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire at 609 River Village Drive at approximately 9:35 p.m. last night.

The initial caller reported a mobile home on fire with one person trapped inside. Units from Tarpon Springs, Palm Harbor, Oldsmar, East Lake, and Sunstar Paramedics responded.

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the mobile home. Firefighters entered the structure and located a 73-year-old man on a couch in the living room. He was removed from the home, treated at the scene, and transported to Tampa General Hospital’s Burn and Trauma Center in critical condition.

Firefighters extinguished a fire in the kitchen and rescued a dog found in a bedroom. The dog was treated and transported by Tarpon Springs Police Department to an emergency veterinary clinic.

The fire remains under investigation by the Tarpon Springs Fire Marshal, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Tarpon Springs Police Department.

No other injuries were reported. Authorities said no additional information is available at this time regarding the patient’s condition or the cause of the fire.
