A crash occurred involving a single motorcyclist on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at approximately 12:40AM.  41 year-old Wesley T. Filson of St. Petersburg, was traveling on the Roosevelt Blvd Entrance Ramp to southbound I-275 in the inside lane on a 2008 Harley Davidson FLHX.

According to investigators from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Filson failed to negotiate a right-hand curve.  As a result he lost control and traveled onto the grass median. Filson over-corrected back onto the roadway and east shoulder where the motorcycle overturned and he was ejected.

Filson suffered fatal injuries and expired at the scene of the crash.

According to FHP, toxicology tests are pending and reportedly Filson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
