Body Recovered in Joe’s Creek by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team

Body Recovered in Joe’s Creek by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Underwater Search and Recovery Team.  This evening about 6:40pm, authorities were called to investigate a possible body floating in Joe’s Creek.  Units from Kenneth City, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and Lealman Fire Rescue were all summoned to the scene.  The Sheriff’s Office forensic unit worked for some time at scene until the Dive Team could respond to the scene.  Lighting was brought in to assist the two divers that went into the water to recover the body.

This occurred in the creek just to the the South of Jacaranda Manor at 4250 66th Street.  The dive team was able to recover the body and it was turned over to the Pinellas County Medical Examiner to determine circumstances around the death.  No information was available regarding the identity of the individual at the time. It appeared to be a Hispanic or bi-racial male individual and unknown if any persons were reported to be missing in the area.  It is also unknown how long the body has been in the water.  Neighbors reported that this morning the creek was very shallow and any body would have been spotted easily.  The body probably moved with the tidal movement and the water appeared to be 4-5 feet deep in that area at the time of the recovery.
