Officer Involved Shooting in Belleair

On Monday, November 23rd at about 12:35 PM shots were fired near 1569 Fort Harrison Avenue in Clearwater.



Units from both the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and the Belleair Police Department were in the area after receiving reports of a suspicious person.  A call was received about a subject with a possible gun at the Fifth Third Bank located at 601 Indian Rocks Rd in Belleair.

Law enforcement encountered the subject on Fort Harrision Avenue and engaged in a foot pursuit.  The subject reportedly was running while holding a gun in the right hand.  At one point during the foot pursuit, shots were fired by the Belleair Police Officer.  The details of that encounter are unknown at this time and an investigation is underway.

The subject was transported to Bayfront Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds but being considered non life-threatening.

28 year-old Jamaal Bishop pointed a Marksman 4.5 mm bb/pellet gun at Belleair Police Officer Roy Olsen on Monday afternoon. Officer Olsen opened fire striking Bishop multiple times. Bishop facing charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
