TAMPA POLICE RESPOND TO REPORT OF STABBING AT SCHOOL

Tampa Police have responded to Chamberlain High School where a student reportedly stabbed another student.

The incident resulted in the arrest of a 15 year old student. She has been charged with aggravated battery, possession of a weapon on a school campus, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Police say that at approximately 9:30 a.m. during the passing time between 2nd and 3rd periods, two 9th grade students engaged in an altercation, resulting in one of the students stabbing the other. Two students pulled the suspect off the victim, preventing further injury. Both the victim and the suspect are 15 years old. The suspect fled briefly and the school was placed on modified lock-down for less than 10 minutes. The school resource officer was able to put out a description of the suspect, and the suspect was quickly apprehended without incident when a Tampa Police officer spotted her walking eastbound along Busch Boulevard not far from the Chamberlain campus. A steak knife, thought to be the weapon used in the stabbing, was found inside her pocket.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The school quickly resumed a normal schedule. The Chamberlain High principal sent out a phone message notifying parents about the incident.

Chamberlain High School is located at 9401 N Boulevard in Tampa.
