Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a call at 8:10 a.m. on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue just north of Lakeview Avenue after a large oak tree fell onto a passing car.
The Suzuki Forenza was headed north when it was crushed by the tree. A grandmother and her grandson were treated by fire medics on scene and then transported to Mease Countryside Hospital for what are thought to be minor injuries. The road remains closed as the cleanup continues.
