Largo Man Arrested for DUI After Driving into the Water on North Side of Sand Key Bridge
Clearwater Police responded to a single vehicle accident at 800 Bayway Boulevard at the Bayside condos. It occurred shortly before 2 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017.
Reports indicate that 21 year-old Ryan T. Jones of Largo drove a Jeep Wrangler across the bridge northbound at a high rate of speed and didn’t negotiate the turn at the north end of the bridge and ended up in the water.

Members of the Clearwater Fire Department’s Dive Team entered the water to search the vehicle and confirmed that Jones was the only occupant in the car. He was able to get out of the car and swim to shore.
He has been charged with Driving Under the Influence and Careless Driving. His Blood Alcohol Concentration reported to be at 0.22 after the crash.
