Two Hospitalized After Aircraft Goes Off Runway at Albert Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg
At approximately 10:42 am on Friday, September 1, 2017, St.Petersburg Fire Rescue responded to the Albert Whitted Airport for a plane crash.
The 2005 Kerr Gerald Velocity SUV aircraft had crashed into the water trying to land at the airport.
It appears that the plane overshot the runway and skidded off into the water.
There were two souls on board at the time of the crash.
The US Coast Guard was on scene first and removed both occupants from the aircraft.
The occupants were then transported to a nearby boat ramp where fire crews evaluated the two people that were on board.
Both occupants of the aircraft were transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for further examination.
The plane crash is being investigated by multiple agencies.
