Motorist Leaves Scene After Striking a Bicyclist and Dragging Bike Over 1,000 Feet in Pinellas Park

Pinellas Park Police investigated an early morning hit and run crash with injuries in the 9500 block of U.S. Hwy 19 N. The crash occurred on Monday, October 2, 2017 at approximately 7:00 a.m.

Police say that an adult male bicyclist was riding in the bicycle lane in the 9500 block of U.S. Hwy 19 N at the 49 Street exit to go North on 49 Street.

A faded silver Mercury, going Northbound on U.S. Hwy 19 N, crashed into the bicyclist causing the cyclist serious injury. The Mercury then dragged the bicycle along with it after the crash and failed to stop at the scene.

The bicycle was located over 1,000 feet from the original crash scene. The Mercury was last seen headed North on the 49th Street exit ramp from U.S. Hwy 19 N.

Pinellas Park Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the
suspect vehicle and any information on the driver of said vehicle.  Anyone
with information on the vehicle or its driver is asked to contact

Suspect Vehicle: 80s to 90s model silver Mercury (possibly a Mercury Sable). It has faded paint and will have damage to the right front portion and or right side of the vehicle. The passenger side mirror is broken and the glass to it is off the vehicle.
