Clearwater Police have arrested 49 year-old Paul Fullington of Hudson.
Officers from the Clearwater Police Department attempted to perform a traffic stop on the 2012 large U-Haul box truck shortly after midnight on Thursday, January 17, 2019. Fullington was reportedly violently swerving across lanes of Gulf to Bay Blvd near Bayshore Blvd. He signaled he would pull over but sped away from the officer.
Officers from the Clearwater Police Department, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office along with a K-9 and air support from the “Eagle” tracked the U-Haul.
He travelled down US-19 in the area of Park Boulevard and began to head back northbound on US-19. Deputies were able to utilize tire deflation devices in the area of 126th Avenue. He continued up past Evans Road where he turned back around, heading back southbound.
Additional tire deflation devices were utilized as he continued to drive only on the rims of the vehicle. Fullington eventually came to a stop on 34th Street N near 47th Ave. He refused to comply with officer’s commands to exit the vehicle. His removal required officers to break the window and forcibly pull him from the vehicle.
Fullington has been charged with Fleeing and eluding law enforcement, resisting arrest without violence, driving under the influence, and reckless driving.
He was booked into and remains in the Pinellas County Jail.
