Largo Police and Fire Rescue crews responded to reports of a vehicle crash at approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019. The crash occurred in the southbound lanes at 601 Starkey Road.
Largo Police reports that 55 year-old Sean Brunicarde of Largo was traveling southbound on Starkey Road in a 2005 Mazda MX5 Miata. He drifted into the northbound lanes of Starkey Road and collided with an SUV and concrete light pole.
Officers reported that Brunicarde had a distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage along with bloodshot and watery eyes. His speech was slurred and mumbled according to investigators. He was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for further medical evaluation.
At the hospital, his medical blood alcohol concentration was reported at .370 (nearly 4 1/2 times the level limit of impairment).
Upon release from the hospital, Brunicarde was transported and booked into to the Pinellas County Jail. He was released on bail of $500 and facing charges of DUI involving a crash with property damage.
At least one occupant of the SUV was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Both directions on Starkey Road were closed due to a low hanging power line over the roadway. Duke Energy arrived on scene to repair the power line.
