Officer Injured After 15 Year-Old Driver of Stolen Car Runs Stop Sign Causing Crash in St. Petersburg

The St. Petersburg Police Department is conducting a traffic investigation at the intersection of 18th Ave., S and 7th St. S after a stolen car crashed with the police vehicle

Police say the sergeant was traveling eastbound on 18th Ave., South when the stolen blue Toyota Camry, travelin at a high rate of speed, northbound on 7th St. S, ran the stop sign.  The two vehicles crashed at the intersection of 18th Ave. S and 7th St. S.

The driver of the stolen blue Toyota Camry, a 15-year-old boy, was arrested on outstanding warrants.  Charges against him in this crash are pending.

The sergeant and three people riding in the stolen vehicle were treated and released from the hospital with minor injuries overnight.
