Rider critically injured after motorcycle collided with tire tread in roadway

The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating a crash that left a motorcyclist with critical injuries. The crash occurred in Manatee County in the northbound lanes of I-275 approaching the Skyway Bridge at approximately 10:13 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2020.

The 22 year-old helmeted male motorcyclist from Dade City was traveling in the right northbound lane and collided with a tire tread in the roadway.  He became separated from the Honda motorcycle and landed in the left paved shoulder next to the guardrail.

The motorcycle continued traveling northbound and landed on the right paved shoulder of I-275.

The motorcyclist was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with critical injuries.
