Bicyclist seriously injured early Sunday morning in Largo crash

Largo Police and Largo Fire rescue responded to a vehicle crash at approximately 12:21 a.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2021. The crash occurred in the area of Roosevelt Boulevard and 58th Street North.

Investigators say that the initial investigation shows the bicyclist leaving the raised median on Roosevelt Blvd heading northbound not in a crosswalk.  A Dodge SUV traveling eastbound on Roosevelt Blvd attempted to stop at the last second but could not avoid the crash.

Alcohol was not a factor with the driver of the Dodge, according to investigators.  The bicyclist was ground transported to a local hospital where he remains in serious condition.

The Largo Police Departments Traffic Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is currently conducting the investigation.
