Water shooting in the air as vehicle strikes water main off 34th Street N in St. Petersburg

Crews from St. Petersburg Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle crash at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022.

The crash occurred at the intersection of 34th Street North and 24th Avenue North. An SUV struck a water main, the large blue water valve that protruded from the ground. No injuries are reported as the police department is handling the investigation of the vehicle crash.

St. Petersburg Water Resources is on scene and attempting to isolate the water. Fire Inspectors are in the area to ensure business fire sprinkler systems are operating properly.

Crews request that all drivers passing the intersection pay attention to their surroundings and not to use cell phones while driving that may cause another crash.
