Elderly man seriously injured in single motor scooter crash in Pinellas Park

Investigators from the Pinellas Park Police Department are on-scene of a single moped crash. The crash occurred at approximately 2:35 p.m. on Friday, April 1st, 2022 at 70th Avenue at 44th Street N.

The rider, 81 year-old James Woods of Pinellas Park, was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious injuries.

According to investigators, Woods was traveling on a 2022 motor scooter eastbound on 70th Avenue approaching 44th Street N. At the same time, a PSTA bus was stopped at a local bus stop and Woods was unable to slow down. He laid the motor scooter down causing him to slide onto the roadway. He is currently in critical condition.
