St. Petersburg woman charged with murder after attacking acquaintance with box cutter

The St. Petersburg Police arrested 32-year-old Jasmine Sephus after attacking a victim with a box cutter.

The incident occurred in St. Petersburg at approximately 5:54 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2023 at 860 9th Avenue South.

According to the arrest affidavit, Sephus approached the victim, 51-year-old Mary Colon-Wright, and an altercation ensued.

During the verbal altercation, Sephus pulled a box cutter from her belt and cut Colon-Wright.

The injuries sustained resulted in the death of Colon-Wright. The two women were known to each other.

Sephus was transported to the Pinellas County Jail and charged with 2nd-degree murder.
