Man in wheelchair struck and killed while on 28th Street N in Pinellas

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continue investigating a fatality crash involving a man in a wheelchair.

The crash occurred at approximately 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, in the 4600 block of 28th Street North.

According to FHP, a 54-year-old man from Pinellas Park operated a pickup truck southbound on 28th Street North, south of 46th Terrace North.

A 67-year-old man in a wheelchair was traveling south in the middle of the roadway in a wheelchair with no lights or reflective equipment when he was struck.

The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
