A hit-and-run crash occurred in St. Petersburg, leaving a young pedestrian dead. Cassandra Gelineau, a 29-year-old woman, was walking in the south crosswalk at the intersection of 15th Avenue South and 34th Street South when a blue 2006 Lexus RX330 traveling northbound struck her. Sadly, Gelineau was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident happened at 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023, when Gelineau was crossing the street from west to east when the vehicle hit her. Witnesses reported that the car hit Gelineau by the front of the vehicle while she was still in the south crosswalk.
The authorities were immediately notified and arrived at the scene soon after. Gelineau died at the scene, and the vehicle that struck her had fled the scene.
The vehicle was later discovered, but the driver is still unidentified. The investigation continues.
