On Monday, May 22, 2023, law enforcement officers apprehended Michael Beverly, who is currently 14 years old, and charged him with second-degree attempted murder in relation to a shooting that took place at Wildwood Park, located at 1000 28th St. S., on May 8, 2023. A 16-year-old boy was shot during the incident but fortunately survived his injuries.
Beverly and four other teenagers aged 13 to 15 were taken into custody early this morning following their involvement in a spree of at least seven car burglaries. Shortly after midnight, police officers noticed a stolen Kia Seltos in the vicinity of 30th Avenue North and 59th Street. The officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle evaded them. Eventually, they located the stolen car in the 4600 block of 18th Avenue South, where five teenage boys fled into a nearby house. Law enforcement swiftly apprehended them and recovered a firearm.
The charges brought against the group include auto theft, residential burglary, auto burglary, and possession of burglary tools. Additionally, one of the teenagers was found in possession of stolen credit cards.
Among the apprehended individuals, one of them was identified as Michael Beverly, who had been wanted in connection with the attempted murder that occurred on May 8th.
