Man arrested after barricading himself in a St. Petersburg Wells Fargo Bank

St. Petersburg Police Department officers are working a scene where a man is barricaded inside of the Wells Fargo, 2350 34th Street North.

The incident began at approximately 12:41 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023.

SWAT responded to the scene and were able to take Albistur into custody at 1:53 p.m. The situation was resolved with no injuries.

Officers received a call from a Wells Fargo manager reporting that a Hispanic adult man entered the bank with a gun. He was later identified as 57-year-old Jose Albistur.

Albistur allowed employees and customers to leave the bank. One employee hid in the breakroom, but Albistur was unaware anyone was inside. The employee later safely exited the building once Albistur was in custody.

The investigation is still ongoing.
