Investigation underway following a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist on Sligh Avenue in Tampa

On October 14, 2023, at approximately 4:13 p.m., Tampa Police responded to a fatal crash in the 1100 block of W Sligh Avenue. The vehicles involved were a Hyundai Santa Fe and Kawasaki motorcycle.

Based on the investigation, the driver of the Hyundai was making a lefthand turn to head eastbound on W. Sligh Ave, when the driver of the Kawasaki, who was traveling westbound on W. Sligh Ave, collided with the driver side of the SUV.

The driver of the Kawasaki, an adult Hispanic male in his late 20s, succumbed to injuries sustained as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene. Next of kin was notified.

The driver of the Hyundai remained on scene cooperating with the investigation. There are no criminal charges.

Speed appears to be a factor, but the crash still remains under investigation. No further specifics or clarification was provided by TPD.
