Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue were called to a collision between a vehicle and a building at 2045 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd around 6:43 a.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2024.
According to a preliminary report, the driver of a 2010 Hyundai Sonata, traveling west on Gulf-to-Bay, lost control, crossed the median, proceeded across the eastbound lanes, jumped the curb, and collided with the front of a strip shopping center.
The vehicle entered Greenberg Dental through the front door and glass area, eventually stopping inside Skyline Chili next door.
Fortunately, neither business was occupied, and no injuries were reported.
The driver, 22-year-old Danya Trejo of Clearwater, was charged with DUI. The arresting officer noted an odor of an alcoholic beverage and she had a breath alcohol concentration of .061/.060.
City workers attended to secure the front of the affected building.
