Detectives Arrest Safety Harbor Middle School Student for Written Threats to Commit a Mass Shooting

On February 20, 2024, detectives from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Pinellas County Schools student for Written Threats to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting.

Detectives say a 14-year-old Safety Harbor Middle School student sent a message to another student via Snapchat stating, “I’m shooting school up tomorrow.”

Detectives made contact with the student, who admitted to sending the message but stated it was a joke. He was arrested and charged with one count of Written Threats to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting.
