Man arrested and facing first-degree murder after police say intentionally running over his brother in St. Petersburg

Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department responded to reports of a person lying in the roadway at approximately 2:39 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2024.

Officers located an adult man who was lying in the intersection at 7th Ave. S. and 12 St. S. Paramedics was called but he died at the scene. 

The victim of the homicide has been 
identified as 35-year-old Taiwan James Gland.

The St. Petersburg Police Department was searching for 34-year-old Tyree Gland. He is wanted for the murder of his brother, 35-year-old Taiwan Gland. 

Detectives believe Tyree intentionally 
struck Taiwan with a vehicle two times, killing him.

On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, St. Petersburg Police arrested and charged 32-year-old Sebastian Williams, with accessory after the fact to 1st-degree murder.

He was the passenger in the vehicle that struck and killed Taiwan Gland.

On Thursday evening, St. Petersburg Police detectives took Tyree Gland into custody without incident in the 1900 block of 3 Ave.N. 

Gland is facing first degree murder in the death of his brother.

Below is a photo of the car that Tyree was last seen driving. It is a dark blue 2018 Cadillac ATS, with tag AT21AH.

The victim’s son was shot and killed a few days ago a couple streets away.
