At approximately 4:02 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire Rescue responded to a shooting incident at 200 S Starcrest Drive.
Upon arrival, officers worked to render first aid to the victim until fire rescue crews arrived. The identities of those involved have been released: 27-year-old Treco DeāAndre Miller (shooting suspect) and 24-year-old Isaiah Fields (deceased victim).
Based on the arrest affidavit, the incident occurred at Miller’s apartment, where an argument between Miller and Fields escalated. According to witness statements, Miller and Fields were initially involved in a physical altercation inside Fields’ residence around 3:15 a.m.
The altercation moved outside to a second-story landing in front of Miller’s apartment door. Both men fell down the stairs to the ground floor during the struggle. Miller then returned to his apartment, locked the door, and retrieved a shotgun from his bedroom. He went back and opened the front door and found Fields outside his door again.
A second altercation ensued, during which Fields pushed Miller down the stairs. Fields, who was unarmed according to witnesses, approached Miller, who was still armed with the shotgun. The confrontation ended when Miller fatally shot Fields in the chest with the shotgun.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Clearwater Police detectives apprehended Miller on charges of second-degree murder.
