Body of missing boater located after sailboat partially sinks

On Monday, August 5, 2024, at approximately 12:34 p.m., the Gulfport Police Department was notified of a missing boater, 48-year-old Brian J. Clough.

Mr. Clough anchored his sailboat approximately 50 feet from Gulfport’s Veterans Park and remained anchored there through Tropical Storm Debby. Also aboard the vessel was Clough’s dog. Another man from the local boating community saw that Mr. Clough’s vessel had partially sunk during the late morning hours on Monday and noticed Clough’s dog still aboard. The man searched some of the vessels for Clough but did not find him.

It has been reported that his body was located and awaiting for any updates from Gulfport Police.
