Rider on an e-bike killed in a crash closing 28th Street near MCI Drive

Traffic investigators from the St. Petersburg Police Department arrived at the intersection of 28th St., North and Haulkey Robert’s Place N due to traffic fatality involving the rider of an E-Bike. 

The crash occurred at approximately 5:45 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024.

A Ford Fusion and a Jupiter Electric Bike were traveling southbound on 28th Street North in the curb lane when they crashed.

A second car, a Nissan Quest, struck the victim after he fell from his electric bike.

The victim, a 46-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries.

The release of the name is pending the notification of the next of kin. Both drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation.

The investigation is still ongoing.
