Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol continue to investigate a fatality crash that occurred at Park Street and 46th Avenue N in Unincorporated St. Petersburg.
The crash occurred at approximately 10:46 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024
Crews from Lealman Fire Rescue arrived on the scene and reported the crash involving a car and a motorcycle with extensive damage. Crews immediately began to evaluate three patients. Two people died at the scene. Crews began administering CPR on the third patient, who was transported to St. Petersburg General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Both the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene. FHP began the investigation once determine that the crash occurred in the northbound lanes of Park Street which is Unincorporated Pinellas County.
Troopers reports that the Subaru Impreza, driven by a 24-year-old St. Petersburg woman, was traveling westbound on 46th Avenue North and was stopped at the intersection of Park Street North for a posted stop sign.
A 49-year-old male from Mary Ester, FL, was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on Park Street North.
The Subaru driver failed to remain stopped and yield to the motorcyclist, which caused the motorcyclist to impact the driver’s side door of the vehicle.
Both drivers suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The passenger in the Subaru, a 23-year-old St. Petersburg man, suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
Deputies assisted in closing down both 46th Avenue and Park Street to motorists. The roadway reopened by approximately 3:30 a.m.
