Driver fled on foot after fatally wounding a pedestrian in crash on 9th Avenue South in St. Petersburg

Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash on 9th Avenue S.

An adult male was fatally struck by a Jeep shortly after 8 p.m. in the 1200 block of 9th Avenue S. The victim was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The driver abandoned the Jeep a short distance from the crash scene and fled on foot. Investigators determined that the vehicle had been stolen before the incident.
