Driver Arrested for DUI After Pedestrian Struck on Dali Blvd SE

At approximately 8:06 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the driver of a red Chrysler minivan was traveling at a high rate of speed on Dali Blvd from First Street South. As he approached Bayshore Dr. SE, the driver lost control, crossing into two bicycle lanes and striking a statue, a light pole, and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 37-year-old man, was working in the median, placing flags for a Grand Prix monument. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The driver, identified as 34-year-old Michael Aoun, stayed at the scene during the investigation. Traffic investigators determined Aoun was under the influence and arrested him. He faces charges of:
